But it is far from ancient. It was built in 1980. It consists of 10 Bible-like commandments in 8 different languages-both modern and archaic. They call for humanity to change its ways - how we communicate..how we eat..how we interact..how we govern our lands..how we settle our differences..In short..HOW WE LIVE..
But among all there are 2 commandments that have ignited a firestorm of controversies..
There is a commandment that tells humanity to "GUIDE REPRODUCTION WISELY"...and finally the first commandment demands we maintain a world population under 500 million
"Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature"

The current world population stands at 7 billion. Reducing it to 500 million would require elimination of over 90% of the human population on planet earth.
But how could this be possible...Are the guidestones serve as a survival guide for future catastrophy or does it call for the mass slaughter of billions.
The only man that could shed light to it is its architect. But his identity is shrouded in mystery.
The story of the Georgia Guidestones begin in 1979. A man using the alias R.C. Christian buys land in the Elbert county,Georgia with the intention of building a strange monument in the site. Throughout the process he reveals his identity to 2 other persons- A county official and the owner of the Elbert county Stone works...Both men sworn to secrecy. Construction completed in March 1980. Immediately after its completion the man calling himself R.C. Christian disappears with no trace..never to be heard again.The secrecy surrounding this man only adds to the Guidestone's mystique.
But was he alone or was he a part of a larger movement/organization?.. If Christian was working for an organiszation..Who are they? and what do they want to tell us through the Commandments in the Guidestones.
Near to the Guidestones is a stone tablet with inscriptions that could help understand the true purpose of the Guidestones. It reads "Let these be guidestones to an Age of Reason".
In modern history The Age Of Reason refers to the era when the western civilasation emerged from dark medieval times...the emergence of a society guided by science,logic and mathematics. And its architects were people like Issac Newton, Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin and many more..Among them was another man..the most controversial economist in humankind- Thomas Robert Malthus(remember Malthus theory from our icse Class 10 biology books?). He stated in his works that if the wolrd population isnt kept in check it would eventually lead to war,famine ad death..
Thomas Malthus stated the problems of an overpopulated world(today's scenario) in his works with uncanny accuracy. As a solution Malthus proposed steep decrease in the birth rate of countries. Is the population check needed as predicted by Malthus somehow linked to the Guidestones first and the most striking commandment?..
Many historians and conspiracy theorist believe the roots of the Georgia Guidestones lie deep in the age old myth of the "ROSICRUCIANS".

The Rosicrucian order started as an underground sect of Christianity. It was a secret philosophical society said to have been founded it the medieval German empire during the 1600 AD by Christian Rosenkreuz to challenge the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church. The socity embraced Science, logic and Respect for nature as their doctrines.

But like R.C. Christian..the true identity of Christian Rosenkreuz is shrouded in mystries. Many historians question whether a person named Rosenkreuz ever existed at all.

The Order however is very real and exists even today. Historians believe this society is the collective mind behind the Guidestones.There are striking similarities in the Order's set of beliefs and the Guidestone's Commandments.
Some believe the alias R.C. Christian was a cryptic reference to the Rosicrucian society and Christian Rosenkreuz.
But who are the members of this ancient sect and what do they want ? the answer I guess is as old the sect itself.
